Les Alpes ont ici la chance d'être du Sud, conjuguant magnificence de la montagne avec un ciel d'un bleu intense et un soleil qui inonde de ses rayons bienfaisants des vallées préservées et empreintes d'histoire comme celles du Parc National du Mercantour, de l'Ubaye, du Val d'Allos ou encore de la Blanche.
Allos is 1425m high. The Val d’Allos is crossed by the Verdon at its source(in la Foux d’Allos-Sestrière), 2500m-high. Nearby the Parc Naturel Régional du Mercantour, the Val d’Allos offers beautiful landscapes, from the famous Lac d’Allos, the highest lake in Europe, to the Lance waterfall nearby Colmars-les-Alpes. A rich and various flora is spread depending on the altitude : larches, spruces, pines, but also Alpine Clematis, wild peonies and Martagon Lily.
Val d’Allos has 2 international ski resorts : Vall d’Allos 1500 (Le Seignus) with its 15 trails and Val d’Allos 1800 (la Foux), linked to Pra-Loup since 1977 by the ‘’Espace Lumière’’. The Espace Lumière has 80 trails. The first ski lift of Provence was built in the Seignus in 1936.
The Valley of the Haut-Verdon, betweenAllos and Thorame-Haute, is a region in the Alpes de Haute-Provence corresponding to the Upper Valley of the Verdon. Often associated to the Val d’Allos, (for the name of community of communes and for tourism), in order to sublimate a space dedicated to winter sports. The Valley of the Haut-Verdon doesn’t lack assets. Many good ski resorts allow the population who usually has 2 jobs to stay (one related to winter sports in the winter, agricultural or craft-related during the rest of the year). The presence of the Parc National du Mercantour (the one where wolves came back and which is often talked about in the media because of the numerous attacks on sheep) guarantees a high quality wild environment where many nature lovers enjoy hikes and stays.
The valley of the Haut-Verdon, is a holiday territory, ideal for nature and mountain lovers, hikers, skiers… Or just do nothing by the waterfalls and the splendid landscapes !
