Sainte Croix du Verdon
A village and a lake on the Verdon | TOURIST INFORMATION |
|
MORE ABOUT THIS PERCHED VILLAGEThis little Provencal village full of light and colour, built on a rocky promontory, overlooks the artificial lake of Sainte-Croix Fontaine l’Evêque filled in 1973. Located at the end of the famous Gorges du Verdon, 14 km long and 2 km wide, the lake covers the former Verdon valley over a surface area of 2.200 hectares and comes up to the lower part of the village.
Above the turquoise blue waters which are a paradise for bathers, fishermen and those who are keen on water sports, the old stone walls of the old village go well with the broom which covers the slope down to the lake.
